Staying Motivated Over the Summer

Add in some fun summer activities to your fitness routine. Volleyball, Frisbee, Biking around the neighborhood, or even a light swim are all effective ways to burn calories. Getting outside and adding random acts of fitness into your day will make your workouts fun and summer-friendly.

Pay Attention to Your Heart Rate

Pay Attention to Your Heart Rate

With increases in temperatures, your body must work harder just to complete your normal fitness activities. Because of this, it is important to keep track of your heart rate so you can make sure you are not pushing yourself too hard in the heat and risk heat exhaustion.

Don’t Forget to Rest and Recover

Don’t be too intense on your body. You need to take breaks from high intensity workouts and allow your body to recover. Alternating activities such as yoga and Thai Chi into your normal, high intensity workouts is a great way to let your body recover while still keeping in shape.
